Talisay Inter-Barangay hoopla kicks off today
CEBU, Philippines - The annual Talisay City Mayor's Cup Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament kicks off its 2012 season at 3:00 this afternoon at theTalisay Sports Complex.
Close to 50 teams spread in three divisions are joining the hardcourt battle among the Talisaynons.
The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) category has the most number of entries with 17 in Biasong, Bulacao, Camp 4, Candulawan, Cansojong, Jaclupan, Lagtang, Lawaan 1, Lawaan 3, Maghaway, Poblacion, Pooc, San Isidro, San Roque, Tabunok, Tanke, and Tapul.
The seniors class drew 13 squads, while the open division has eight title contenders namely Bulacao, Cansojong, Dumlog 1, Dumlog 2, Lagtang, Lawaan 1, Tabunok, and Tanke.
Cebu First District Rep. Eduardo “Eddiegul” R. Gullas, Mayor Socrates Fernandez and league commissioner Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, Jr. are expected to the grace the opening rites that will be highlighted by the selection of best muse and the 3-point shootout among the senior division players.
Samsam Gullas will led the oath of sportsmanship, while his younger brother, Talisay Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III, will formally declare the tournament open.
