Bautista: I'm more dangerous now
CEBU, Philippines - IBF International featherweight champion Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista (33-2, 25KOs) claimed he is a more dangerous fighter now and that he is ready to continue his quest of getting another world title shot.
To attain that goal, Bautista needs to hurdle one tough obstacle in Mexican hard-hitter Daniel ‘Cañerito’ Ruiz (27-5,19KOs) when they clash on the undercard of the WBO bantamweight championship between AJ ‘Bazooka’ Banal and Pungluang Sor Singyu of Thailand topbilling the "Pinoy Pride XVII" on October 20 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The pride of Candijay, Bohol said he is aching to get back into the ring after his unpopular second round TKO victory over Genaro ‘Panterita’ Garcia last March 3 in his hometown in Tagbilaran City.
Although triumphant, it was an event to forget for Bautista as he fought a bogus Mexican boxer, who was not the real 'Genaro Garcia' contracted by ALA Promotions to give him a tough test.
“I am excited to be back in the ring. I was not able to show my improvements in my fight in Bohol and now is the chance against Ruiz,” said the ALA Boxing Gym stalwart. “Right now, I'm in the peak of my training and I can say that I am a more dangerous fighter now.”
“All they know is the Boom Boom who is a one-dimensional fighter, but I can say that I have changed a lot and come October, they will see a different fighter,” he added.
After recuperating from a spate of injuries, Bautista said he is now 100 percent ready and is capable of unleashing his full potential going through his goal of grabbing another opportunity to vie for a world crown.
“I can say that Boom Boom is now ready for bigger fights," said Bautista. “After all the setbacks I endured in the past, I'm now training hard because I want to show to everyone that I still have the hunger to become a world champion. My desire is still there and I hope boxing fans will give me a chance to prove myself.”(FREEMAN)
