CBM bets make waves in Dumaguete swimfest

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Blue Marlins of coach Rolando Alvarez performed remarkably in the 3rd Speedo G-League Series recently in Dumaguete City.

CBM dominated the women’s division with 386 points followed by the Negros Oriental Blue Dolphins (381) and the Silliman Red Stallions (245).

In the men’s side, CBM only placed second with 269 points behind NegOr’s Blue Dolphins with 373 points. Silliman ended up third again with 184 points.

Michael Ichiro Kong of the University of Cebu led CBM's charge with eight golds, one silver and one bronze, while his teammates Mathew Angelo Caneda had three silvers and a bronze, Clarence Israel Gabunada with six silvers and Jay Clifford Fernandez with one gold and nine silvers.

In the distaff side, Karen Mae Indaya handed over eight golds, Beth May Arellano bagged four golds, three silvers and two bronzes, Annita Monterola grabbed two golds and three bronzes, while Romylin Nina Ignacio got five golds and five silvers.

Trina Caneda scooped two golds, two silvers and five bronzes, Danielle Mae Ballesteros had two golds and two bronzes, Shayne Allyne Pareja took two silvers and three bronzes, while Langeline Hermoso got two bronzes.

Tristan Kirk Ebon had the biggest contribution for CBM among those from the University of San Carlos-South Campus with nine golds.

Ebon’s sister Tara Kyla came up with two golds, four silvers and four bronzes as Razel Cabajar finished off with four golds plus a silver and a bronze. Danielle Bagacay handed over two bronzes.

Jobert Indaya of Labangon Elementary School got two silvers and four bronzes, Justine Reign Garrido of the Center of International Education (CIE) had a silver and a bronze, Rafael John Dacaldacal of Marternelle Academy wound up with three silvers, while Aaron Grant Embuscado of USC-North Campus won one gold, one silver and seven bronzes.

CBM, which claimed five golds and four silvers in relay events, also hauled several medals in the novice class including Jehaosh Reign Garrido of Bright Academy with six golds, Bernie Gomez with five golds, Dorraine Bagacay of USC-SC with four golds and a silver, and Kaye Sy of St. Theresa's College (STC) with three golds and two silvers, Nikki Sy with five golds and Tanya Sy with four golds and a silver.
