San Andres, Ornopia siblings sparkle in Keiz BJ motocross

- The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - The country's top rider Kenneth San Andres and the Ornopia siblings Brylle and Ken stole the show in round 8 of the inaugural Keiz BJ Motors and Phoenix Cyclomax Titan Motocross Series over the weekend at a specially-designed race course in Brgy. Pagsabungan, Mandaue City.

San Andres, currently ranked No.3 in the Asian racing circuit, wowed the spectators with his suave riding skills and gravity-defying aerial stunts on the way to clinch the title in the expert division.

The multi-titled Davaoeño daredevil Kimboy Pineda finished second, while Jerick Mitra wound up third. Mitra though went home with a champion's trophy in his bag after ruling the intermediate category over Jeese Pineda and Cyril Tariman.

Like Mitra, Pineda also has something to brag about as he reigned supreme in the novice production after outsmarting Salmar Longakit and Tariman.

The 12-year-old Brylle Ornopia caught part of the spotlight after dominating the mini 85 class. Peewee Galia and Gelo Leonardo took the next two spots.

It was actually a double celebration for Brylle as he also topped the beginners selection limited edition, beating Denmar Supatan and Jolito Codiniera who are both older than him by at least three years.

Not to be outdone, Brylle's younger brother Ken motored his way to a championship finish in the peewee division. Their youngest brother Keizer Ornopia landed at a decent third place behind PJ Galia.

Peewee Galia bagged the crown in the mini 65 class after defeating Tammy Largosa and Froilan Mendaros, while Rowel Marano won the local Pagsabungan competition that saw Sarge Espina, Esoy Cuesta, Christian Tagalog and Jason Batad completing the top five finishers.

Kent Limpag also came up with a twinkill through the local enduro and 'habal-habal and wanggits' showdown.

Ray Quirol upstaged Kent Canape and Jun Quirol to lord it over in the beginners open production, while Russel Gungob and Butch Flores reigned supreme in the executive A and B, respectively.

The one day race was made possible through the all-out support of Pheonix Petroleum, Inc., Congressman Pablo John Garcia, Betonval Ready Concrete, Haojue Philippines, WRW Enterprises, Primo Tires, Motolite, Nelson Sicad, Gener Sicad, Reynante Tigue, RMO Motorparts and councilor Renato "Boy" Ornopia.

Keiz BJ Motors big boss Siegfred Ornopia also extended his profound gratitude to Engr. Jun Mahusay, Brgy. Basak Police Force headed by Capt. Wilson Abot, Pagsabungan Brgy. Capt. Andres Suson and councilor Bubbles Suson for their all-out support in making event a huge success.  - THE FREEMAN
