Resilla shines as South wins CSCC E-League All-Star Game
CEBU, Philippines - In a dazzling show of hardcourt brilliance, Sherwin Emmanuelle Resilla scored 14 and hauled 11 rebounds as South gunned down North, 77-70, in the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League All-Star Game last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Resilla, who plays for the Teletech Titans, also collected eight steals and dished out four assists to become the thumbs-up choice as All-Star MVP.
However, it was Lourenz Limpangog of Cebu Global who topscored for South with 17 points.
Mervin Balansag of Lexmark Stallions added a dozen markers for South, which used a searing run in the second quarter to turn the tide of the match in its favor.
The Southern stars trailed by three points at the end of the first period, 22-25, but charged back with a 24-10 blast to grab the lead at halftime, 46-35, for good.
The North side pulled within five points, 54-59, heading into the final 10-minute mark of the contest, but the Southern cagers fought steadier down the stretch to scrape through a seven-point victory.
Clifford Amarado of Aegis Vipers paced North with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists followed by Sylvester Millevo of defending champion Stream Ingenyouity with 15 points, five rebounds and the same number of assists. Joshua Ryan Yam of Convergys Wolves added 10 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and three assists in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, Rueben Cabilino of Odusee Rooz topped the 3-point shootout, Julian Suerte and Alain Buligan of the Accenture Sharks ruled the 2-ball competition, while Fritz Blanes of SupportSave Jaguars won the skills challenge.
