Pinoy Pride XV hits SM Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - The Filipino fighters of the much-awaited mega-boxing event "Pinoy Pride XV: Philippines vs. Mexico-The Rematch will be hitting SM City-Cebu for a public workout at 5 pm today at The Event Centre of the said mall.

ALA Stable mainstays Jason “El Nino” Pagara, Genesis “Azukal" Servania and a band of boxing hopefuls will showcase to fans their preparations for their upcoming battles in the explosive card set on August 18 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The slambang show co-presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports will feature a pair of championships.

Pagara (28-2, 17KOs) will figure in a grudge rematch of sort with his Mexican tormentor Rosbel Montoya (36-4-1, 30KOs) for the WBO International jr welterweight championship, while Servania (18-0, 7KOs) will take on Jorge "El Feroz" Pazos ( 20-3, 13KOs) for the WBO Asia-Pacific super bantamweight crown.

The ring gladiators representing Team Philippines will be showing to the public a little of how they prepare and sweat it out for their forthcoming war against the Mexicans.

Today's public workout will also feature former two-time regional champion Jimrex "The Executioner" Jaca, a one-time challenger to Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez who will make his ring return under the wings of ALA Boxing Gym.

Jaca will be tested by the young Angel Martinez of Mexico.

ALA Promotions will be giving out complimentary tickets to boxing fans who will take part in the Pinoy Pride XV trivia contest during the public workout sessions.    - THE FREEMAN
