Interestingly, Benedicto was only ninth out of all the Filipino male entries in the open water swim. He completed the 1.9-kilometer swim course in 31 minutes and 31 seconds.
Benedicto, however, charged back in his favorite bike discipline with the time of two hours, 22 minutes and 15 seconds, which was enough to give him an advantage going into the run discipline.
