Aegis, Teletech keep division leads in CSCC E-League

- EBV - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - The Aegis Vipers and Teletech Titans shackled separate foes to tighten their grip of the leadership in their respective divisions in the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Aegis slammed the Kyocera Frontiers, 61-48, to stay on top of the Northern Conference with a 9-1 win-loss record, while Teletech tamed SSI Pure Science, 76-69, to solidify its hold of the Southern lead with an 8-1 slate.

Steve Warren Navaja netted 15 points and five rebounds, while Dean Junber Escalon added 12 markers for Aegis, which gamely recovered from an early 11-17 deficit to frustrate Kyocera at the final buzzer.

After forging a 29-all deadlock at halftime, Aegis outgunned Kyocera in the third period, 16-8, to change the course of the match in its favor.

Ariel Ramonito Edera had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals but his all-around effort went to waste as Kyocera slipped to 4-4 in the standings.

Sherwin Emmanuelle Resilla, on the other hand, topscored for Teletech with 23 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists. His namesake Sherwin Anghay badded 18 points as they took full command of the match after getting off to a 20-13 start.

Lourenz Limpangog was the other bright spot for Teletech with 16 points, five rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

SSI pulled within just a hairline at halftime, 31-32, but Teletech quickly regained its offensive bearing to proceed into the final quarter with a 58-52 headway.

Lawrence Agas exploded with a season-high 35 points, six rebounds and three steals for SSI, which suffered its third loss in eight starts.

In the other game, Roy Joseph Lanzaderas scattered 24 points on top of three steals and two rebounds, while Ellery Ariate chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and two assists as the Lexmark Stallions crushed the Cebu Global Warriors, 94-36.

Lexmark, thus, evened its win-loss record to 4-4, while Cebu Global stayed without a win in seven games.
