CEBU, Philippines - Over a hundred Cebuano netters are seeing action in the first ever Vice Mayor Glen Bercede Invitational Lawn Tennis Tournament, which kicked off yesterday at the Mandaue City Tennis Club (MCTC) courts.
The categories to be contested in the week-long tournament are Class A, B,C and seniors doubles.
“Aside from promoting camaraderie to all the Cebuano tennis players, another reason that I organize this tournament is for them to have the chance to practice their skills in preparation for bigger tournaments,” said Bercede, who led the ceremonial serve together with the other members of the Mandaue City council.
“We are aiming to hold this event yearly and hopefully, we will have a bigger season in the years to come,” added Bercede,
Aside from trophies, the champion will take home P8,000, while the runner-up will pocket P4, 000. The losing semifinalists will receive P1, 000 each. — THE FREEMAN
