Stream, ePerformax crush rival in CSCC E-League
CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion Stream Global Ingenyouity and the ePerformax Reds easily dismantled their respective foes in the continuing action of the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Stream whipped the Kyocera Frontiers, 67-42, to join the Aegis Vipers at second place in the Northern Conference on identical 6-1 win-loss records behind the undefeated Convergys Wolves (5-0), while ePerformax readily bounced back from a previous defeat and vented its wrath on the hapless 1&1 Marauders, 91-60.
Edward Castañeda netted 14 points and John Jess Cajuelan added 10 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists for Stream, which used a furious second-quarter offensive to rip the game apart.
Leading by only four after the first 10 minutes of play, 12-8, Stream detonated a devastating 24-5 bomb in the second canto to break the wide open at halftime, 36-13.
Stream wasn't done from there, launching another 21-10 attack to post an insurmountable 57-23 lead heading into the final 10-minute zone of the contest.
Eliot Emerson Uy was the lone double-digit scorer with 19 points on top of eight rebounds and three blocks for Kyocera, which suffered its second loss in four starts.
On the other hand, ePerformax displayed great team effort in chalking up its fifth victory against a solitary setback.
Dennis Raymond Tan had 15 points and seven steals, while Mark Jeffrey Baello finished with 14 points spiced up with nine rebounds and four assists for ePerformax, which never looked back after jumping off to a blistering 30-11 start.
The Marauders pulled within eight points at halftime, 30-38, but ePerformax retaliated with a 25-15 spurt to regain an imposing 63-45 lead. ePerformax further clobbered 1&1 in the final period, 28-15, for the 31-point blowout.
Jiffy Epe added 14 points and six rebounds for ePerformax, while Joel Nebria and Alejandro Ruiz connived for 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Nathan Gabriel Buot finished with 14 points and four rebounds, while Raymaond Basañez added 13 points, six rebounds and two steals as 1&1 fell to 3-5.
In the other game, Kenneth Robert Abrantes erupyed with a season-high 29 points on top of eight rebounds and three assists as the Odusee Rooz spanked the Lexmark Stallions, 70-67, for its third win in five games.
Lexmark, which drew 20 points, 11 rebounds and two steals from Franco Angelo Cipriano, slipped to 2-4.
