CEBU, Philippines - Bernardo Aves bagged two special awards in the Cycle in the City:A BTC Fun Ride and Bikefest at the Banilad Town Centre. The fun ride, now on its second year, marked the official launching of BTC's Bike Parking Zone- the first bike parking area in Cebu.

The 73-year-old Aves took home the oldest biker and the vintage bike awards.

Aves pedaled a well-maintained Schwinn bike from the 60s that wowed the rest of the participants.

Seven-year-old Nathan Alexander Sy, on the other hand, came out as the youngest biker.

Christian Allen Bidos of the Cebu Vintage Bicycle Club was adjudged as the biker with the fanciest attire among the 200 bike enthusiasts who joined the event.

Team SAAT was declared as the biggest contingent with 24 entries.

Amidst the light drizzle, participants geared up and rode to the challenge, with some showing up as early as 5 am to sign in and register. From BTC, cyclists of all types traversed a two-hour ride covering a 25-kilometer bicycle course around the city of Cebu.

The event was co-presented by Bikecology and endorsed by the Cebu City Sports Commission. It was also made possible by Robinson's Supermarket, Nike Athletic Club, Gear Up Zone and Optical Adult & Child.  (FREEMAN)
