Run Up High 2: De los Santos, Singson rule

CEBU, Philippines - Decorated long distance runners Mary Grace de los Santos and Adonis Singson topped their respective divisions in the 2nd Run UP High yesterday starting and ending at the Oblation statue of the University of the Philippines-Visayas Cebu College in Brgy. Lahug, this city.

De los Santos bagged the women's 12K crown with the time of 57 minutes and 4.73 seconds, while another veteran runner Madelyn Carter placed second in 1:01:34.41.

Rochelle Tan, Cebu’s reigning triathlon queen, showed a relative improvement in her running skills by winding up third with a 1:06:18.52 clocking.

In the men's action, Singson crossed the finish line first with the best time of 46 minutes and 9.38 seconds. Jovet Rivera was a distant second in 49:52.98 followed by Leo Abello in 51:18.34.

Christy Sevilleno-Tutor stole part of the limelight by ruling the women's 6K followed by Lynlie Cardenas and Keiko Shimogama.

Jobert Carolino topped the men's category after registering the time of 26:37.47. Erick Perpertua (29:31.48) and Lancer Mansera (34:38.92) occupied the next two spots.

In the women's 3K, Mary Joy Loberanis claimed the top spot in 12 minutes and 47.79 seconds. Julian Logarta placed second in 15:12.39 followed by Jasmin Limbaga in 16:30.21.

The top three in men's 3K were Michael Largo (9:34.11), Jodel Batarilan (9:42.86) and Ivan Santos (11:10.89).

On the other hand, Margot Villarica, Hope Kho, Celia Seniedo and Sol Malasomma defended their title in UP's adaptation of London’s caterpillar run, which the organizers called the “Barkadahan Run”. This time, they completed the 3K race in 19 minutes and 34.22 seconds.

Paul Ivan Sanchez, Allan Torrefalma, Joey Lanojan and Kenneth Gallardo landed at second in 21:54.09, while the group of Reden Copio, Hannah Yuson, Gilamie Angcay and Janine Alexis Rosco placed third with a 34:42.23 clocking. THE FREEMAN
