Ganzon dominates Tuburan chessfest

CEBU, Philippines - The unheralded Rommel Ganzon bested a bunch of veteran players to win the title of the Tuburan Siglakas Open Chess Tournament recently at the town’s plaza.

Ganzon finished the 7-round Swiss system competition undefeated, posting a near perfect 6.5 points to take home the P8, 000 champion's purse.

Voltaire Sevillano wound up second with 6.0 points, Eden DIano, Alfer Fernandez and Tuburan’s pride Renze Kyle Sevillano tallied 5.5 points to occupy the next three spots.

Completing the top 12 finishers were Merben Roque, Erwin Ababat, Ronald Ganzon, Carlos Moreno III, Allan Pason, Michael Silvederio, Richard Natividad and Ceferino Vizco.
