There are still many slots available for Run UP High set this Sunday.

The event is organized by the University of the Philippines Cebu High School Alumni Association and will be for 12-K, 6-K and 3-K distances.

There is also a group event for the 3-K race where four runners will be tied to each other.

If you want to join the event or simply want to help in the project to raise funds for the alumni scholars and the faculty development fund, sign up now or sign up your staff or family members if you can’t or don’t run.

You can sign up at the UP Cebu High School faculty room or at Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu.

Many seem to be very unhappy that the match between the Azkals and Malaysia last weekend ended in a 0-all draw.

For those who have been following football, the result was already very good and the fact that there were several attempts by the Filipinos at the goal is already a major step forward.

What bothers me is that many people continue to scoff at the Azkals for having many players with foreign-sounding surnames.

Didn’t that also happen with Philippine basketball about two decades ago?

There is no more doubt about how Filipino the Azkals are compared to us, who have brown skin and short noses.

The players have given their all for the nation carrying the tri-colors in the international stage. At least they really have Filipino blood.

It’s about time we put this issue to rest.

I had a great Monday. Tiger Woods came out of his slump and won his 73rd title to tied Jack Nicklaus by winning his 5th Memorial title.

The Boston Celtics, although not my favorite team, beat the Miami Heat, definitely not a team I root for, via overtime to tie the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Then as icing to the cake was the 5-1 victory of my favorite baseball team the New York Yankees against the Detroit Tigers.

It is just sad that the streak did not continue until yesterday after the San Antonio Spurs, my favorite team, lost to Oklahoma City Thunder in game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Spurs have one more chance to stay alive and if they do so, they have also one chance to wrap the series in game 7. I am hoping for the best.

It has been some time since I have covered the Southern Ladies Golf Tournament, which has been played in other venues the past several years.

Today, the tournament returns to Cebu Country Club and I am looking forward to seeing some of the best players of the country.

Of course, there are also the ever-lovely titas from the Ladies Chapter led by Bud Sala, who are busy making sure the tournament will go on without hitches.

Good luck to all the players especially those from the Cebu-based teams.
