CEBU, Philippines - The up and coming tankers of Cebu Blue Marlins sealed their summer training on a bright note as they hauled 48 golds, 18 silvers and 10 bronzes to dominate the culminating event of this year’s Cebu City Sports Center Summer Swimfest the other day at the Olympic-size CCSC Aquatic Center.
Kristine Anne Sy and Jehaosh Reign Garrido led CBM's sizzling charge at the pool with six golds each.
Sy, who competed under the girls 15-under division, snatched gilts in the 25m back slide flutter kick, dog paddle, freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly, while Garrido minted golds in the same events under the boys 7-8 class.
Dianne Kaye Sy handed five golds and a silver, while Kayely Criselle Anen got two golds, three silvers and a bronze in the girls 9-11 category.
Mary Pauline Indaya contributed six silvers in the six-under, Kaye Adrianne Racho had two silvers and three bronzes in the girls 7-8 class, while Shanelle Rae Alston bagged two silvers in the 12-14 age-group.
In the boys side, Brendon Villarubia seized five golds and a bronze, Ed Justin Enad collected five golds, while John Michael Aniban grabbed one gold, two silvers and two bronzes in the 9-11 class.
In the 15-above action, Bernie Alarde Gomez plucked four golds and two silvers, while John Dale Sy chipped in a pair of golds.
Overall, CBM of coach Rolando Alvarez amassed 48 out of the 62 golds at the stake in the one-day tilt. The rest of the medals were taken away by the Cebu Swimming Instructors’ Association (CSIA) bets. - THE FREEMAN
