CEBU, Philippines - Australian pro triathlete Dan Brown will be the man to beat in the Tabuelan 111 Triathlon on June 17 at the Maravilla Beach Resort.
Brown, an endorser of Vellum, has already confirmed his entry to the lung-busting event that features a two-kilometer swim, 88K bike and 21K run.
Brown begged off from joining the XTerra Philippines last March in Liloan as he was already set for Ironman Singapore and Australia that time.
"I'm very much looking forward to the inaugural Tabuelan 111 triathlon. It will be an exciting and important day for triathlon in the whole region and shows the progress of our sport in the Philippines. See you on the start line in June," said the 16-time Ironman.
The Tabuelan 111 is among the highlights of the town's annual fiesta celebration.
"It will be great to have Dan race in Tabuelan 111 Triathlon. I believe this race, together with the Ironman 70.3 and Xterra, are the premier triathlon events in Cebu. The organizers, led by the town and mayor of Tabuelan, Tagghap Tri Club, and Sugbu Triathlon, have done amazing work with their preparation for this event, " said Chris Aldeguer, president CEO of Vellum Cycles.
Aside from Brown, Vellum is also fielding in Gerrie Calinawan and Eugene Sanchez and Tagghap’s Rap Seos-e in the individual category.
Aldeguer, for his part, will join the relay competition under Team Fish18 Sport alongside Michael Flores and Franz Baguio. (FREEMAN)
