- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The Abellana National School-Pomeroy stretched its unbeaten streak to three games with a 2-0 shutout of the SC Warriors to advance into the boys 17 semifinals of the 12th CAFC Inter-Club Football Cup yesterday at the San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Arnel Montayre and Christian Melliro delivered the winning goals for ANS-Pomeroy.

ANS/Pomeroy still has one game left in the elimination round, but is already assured of a semis spot regardless of the outcome of its match against the Cebu team tomorrow.

The Cebu squad drubbed the Mandaue Technical Institute (MTI), 3-0, to stay undefeated in two games, so far.

In the 40-above class, host San Roque FC opened its campaign with a 2-0 trouncing of the Queen City United-A, while Hirochi FC and ERCO fought to a scoreless draw.

In bracket A of boys 17 division played at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center in Talamban, the Football Club Inter-Cebu (FCIC) stayed alive after it escaped past University of San Carlos-North campus, 2-1, for its first win in three starts.

Meanwhile, the event organizers decided to include a semifinal round in the boys 14 category.

The top four at the end of the classification round will compose the semis cast, with the topseed going up against the fourth-ranked squad and the No.2 and No.3 qualifiers going up against each other on Saturday. The survivors will then clash for the championship on Sunday.

Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu currently leads the said age-group with an unblemished 3-0 record. The Sacred Heart booters claimed Canduman FC as their latest victim via a 6-2 decision.— (FREEMAN)
