Cebu into national finals of PFF U-23 tourney

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Football Association (CFA) edged out Negros Oriental, 2-1, to advance into the final round of the PFF-Suzuki Under-23 National Championships   yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Negros Oriental actually broke the ice of the match courtesy of Daniel Castellano at the 19th.

After the much-needed wake up call from coach Joselito Bono at halftime, the CFA booters gamely rose to the challenge with Ben Lorenzo Magbanua finding the back of the net to equalize the count, 1-1, at the 53rd.

Anthony Bryan Tabuelog later knocked in a goal at the 87th to seal CFA's win that assured the Cebuano booters a slot in the national finals next year along with Negros Occidental and Iloilo. (FREEMAN)
