CEBU, Philippines - The SupportSave Jaguars and Eperformax Reds hammered separate foes in the continuing action of the Sun Cellular-presented 8th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym in Ayala Business Park.
Jenille Kristianne Bantilan had 21 points and five steals in SupportSave's 85-60 shellacking of the Eli Global Underdogs, while Eperformax personified great team effort in its 63-39 rout of the Calltek Trojans.
Fritz Vincent Blanes pumped in 16 points, three steals and two assists, while Edmon Paradiang added 15 points, four rebounds and two assists for SupportSave, which battered Eli Global right after the opening bell to mount a commanding 18-point advantage at the end of the first period, 24-6.
SupportSave sustained its relentless offensive in the second quarter where they outpointed anew the hapless Eli Global, 24-15, to further break the game wide open at the intermission, 48-21.
Ryan Zear Lauro scattered 29 points but his singular outburst couldn't spell any difference for Eli Global.
On the other hand, Raymond Dennis Tan was the lone double-digit scorer with 10 for Eperformax but that hardly mattered as their balanced offensive catapulted them to a 24-point demolition of Calltek.
After jumping off to a hot 15-4 start, Eperformax pounced Calltek in the next two quarters, 29-19, to take an imposing 44-23 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
Earl Genebraldo exploded with 31 points on top of six rebounds in a losing effort for Calltek.
In the other game, Jasper Loreto charted a season-high 33 points as the Accenture Sharks swallowed the Lexmark Stallions, 95-90.
Julian Kyle Suerte chipped in 16 markers and Jonathan Abesia added 10 markers, three rebounds and two blocks for Accenture, which rode on a sizzling third-quarter run to change the complexion of the match in its favor.
Accenture trailed by four at halftime, 34-38, but retaliated with a 31-22 bang after the halftime break to seize control of the match, 65-60, entering the final period.
Accenture then neutralized Lexmark's offense in the windup on the way to a hard-earned victory that spoiled a monster showing by Mervin Balansag, who cashed in 32 points on top of 16 rebounds, two blocks and two steals for the Stallions.
