Oceanman event at Portofino this pm
CEBU, Philippines - Over 50 athletes will vie for top honors in the Oceanman race at Portofino Beach Resort in Mactan Island this afternoon.
The event organizers are reminding all the participants to be at the venue early for the race briefing and body markings.
Multi-titled Cebuana tanker Loren Dale Echavez is expected to showcase her wares in the open water swimming and running events rolled into one.
John Arriola, for his part, hopes to make a triumphant return after falling short in his last oceanman event through the Bantayan Beach Games due to injury.
Eight age-groups will be featured - 10-under, 11-12, 13-14, 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-above.
The competitors will have to deal with a 200-meter open water swim and a 400m run per loop. A total of four loops will be contested in the Portofino Oceanman organized by the Sports Adventure Travel Service in association with Sugbutriathlon. - THE FREEMAN
