Echavez bags double victory in Beach Games

CEBU, Philippines - LOREN Dale Echavez scored a double victory in the Bantayan Beach Games after ruling the second leg of the oceanman event at Sugar Beach Resort in Sta. Fe.

Echavez topped the women’s overall standings after finishing the swim-run event in 42 minutes and 59.09 seconds. Earlier, she dominated the open water competition.

April Goden trailed Echavez with a time of 44:32.98 while first leg winner Loveleinell Casisid came out third with her 46:42.11 clocking.

While Echavez pulled another convincing win, Keith Ocampo missed a double as Paul Jumamil came out faster than him.

Jumamil clocked 36:05.56 while Ocampo logged 37:13.25.

Lister Ray Tungala was third overall with 37:59.26.

Jess Arriola Jr., who topped the overall standings during the first leg of this event, failed to get into the top three due to an injury. He still managed to bag the 19-under class title with 40:36.

Cynthjune Goden came out second to Arriola with 42:22.78 while Andre Pacheco at third with 42:37.69.

In the distaff side, the top 3 were Jorgina Cane with 50:19.77, Ara Denise Echavez with 50:19.77 and Rue Reinhardt Panibon with 51:49.32.

Benjie Gomez, on the other hand, dominated the 20-29 class in 42:38 as Joel Peconcillo came out second in 43:51.56 and Philip Duenas at third with 45:37.71 while Katherine Rose Arriola was unopposed in the girls’ side and finished the race in 56:53.54.

Michael and Maynard Sasedor had a 1-2 finish in the boys 13-14 with 43:53 and 44:04.07 respectively while Rica Seville dominated the distaff side in 53:48.52.

Ironman Noy Jopson was also unchallenged in his class. He bagged the 30-39 title in 40:35.71.

Junn Ramon Alfonso Pacheco ruled the 11-12 division with 45:13.65 clocking.

Organizers had to cancel the beach run due to lack of entries.  (FREEMAN)
