CEBU, Philippines - Five promising Cebuano keglers will be the country’s representatives to the 14th Asian Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships slated from July 8 to 15 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Aui Padawan, Heber Alqueza, Kisha Tesio, Xyrra Cabusas and Samantha Lagkaw of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) were chosen to banner Phl's campaign in the week-long tourney by CETBA-PRIMA Bowling Club headed by its owner Alex Lim under the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC).

As part of their preparations, they will see action in the Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati (TBAM) Open Championship set on April 8-15 as well as in the National Youth Championships (NYC) scheduled on April 16-22, both at the E-Lanes in San Juan City.

After the twin events, they will remain in Manila to undergo further training for their first ever international stint.

Padawan is the first National Bowling Tour (NBT) champion, while Alqueza emerged as the top winner in the Sinulog National Open. Tesio, Cabusas and Lagkaw also stamped their respective classes in both local and national tournaments.

NBT director Edgar Marshall Alqueza said the competition in Jakarta would be a great exposure for the Cebuano pinbusters.

“This is the first time that these players will be groomed for international tournaments. We could see that they are already ready for tougher battles after excelling in both local and national competitions. And they’re very excited to bring the name of our country in Jakarta,” said Alqueza. - THE FREEMAN
