Five events to take place today

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - It’s going to be a fully-loaded weekend for the Cebu football community with five events all set to take place today in different venues.

Little Aza IN TOWN

Six Cebuano Little Azkals will join the rest of the Philippine Under-14 training pool in their extensive summer camp beginning today at the Don Bosco Boys Home in Liloan.

They are Moiselle Angelo Alforque, Lawrence Colina, Major Dean Ebarle, Vincent Erik Lovitos, Kintaro Miyagi and Brandon Durano.

A total of 30 players made it to the training pool, but only 22 of them will go to Italy for a 20-day training, according to coach Oliver Colina.

After fine-tuning their skills in Italy, the team will then focus on their final preparations for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Festival of Football in Malaysia this June.

QCU plunges a new in UFL action

The Cebu Queen City United FC will wrap up its elimination round campaign in the Second Division of United Football League (UFL) today against the Meltique Beef FC at the University of Makati (UMak) field. Game time is set at 6 pm.

The rampaging Queen City under the tutelage of Mario Ceniza are currently ranked third overall with 21 points on seven wins, one draw and two defeats.

QCU representative Glenn Quisido said winning the match is very important for the Cebuano booters as the total points garnered in the first round will be carried over in the second phase of the tournament.

 Suzuki cup under-23 tilt

Cebu will take on Iloilo in its first home game in the Visayas leg of the PFF Suzuki Cup Under-23 Football Tournament scheduled at 1:30 this afternoon at the Aboitiz Sports Field (ASF) in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Coach Joselito Bono is confident of defending their turf against the visiting Ilongos as his players from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) have already adjusted with their reinforcements.

Cebu hurdled its opening assignment with finesse against Leyte, 4-1. In their previous match, they fought to a 2-all draw with Negros Oriental Football Association (NOFA) last week in Dumaguete City.

Aboitiz cup final showdown

Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) guns for its fifth title in the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup when it goes up against the University of San Carlos (USC) in the men's under-19 final at 10 am today at the ASF.

DBTC advanced after kicking out the early title favorite Abellana National School-Pomeroy, while USC booked the remaining championship ticket after outsmarting Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.

Tomorrow at 3 pm, Queen City United (QCU)-A will slug it out with Crazy Horse for the men's open crown.

Prior to the QCU-Crazy Horse duel, USJ-R Alumni will take on Don Bosco United for the third place trophy.

A total of 28 individuals including outgoing president Richard Montayre have been nominated to the CFA Board.
