Pajo bets trounce La Salle in Shakey's G-League nat'l finals

CEBU, Philippines - Pajo National High School (PNHS) opened its championship bid with a three-set shellacking of De La Salle Lipa at the start of the 9th Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League National Finals yesterday in Davao City.

The Pajo belles of coach Fr. Rolando T. Manayon, who won the national title in volleyball event of the 3rd Milo Little Olympics, hammered De La Salle Lipa in masterful fashion 25-19, 25-19, 25-10 behind the powerful attacks of Gretchel Soltones, Danica Yonson, Apple Rueles, Lovely Marie Murillo, Denisse Franciska Lim and Jessa Jorquia.

Hope Christian School (HCS), PNHS' closest rival for supremacy, also got off to a flying start but had to go through a tough challenge before repulsing host Davao City National High School (DCNHS) in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 26-24.

In the other game, University of St. La Salle (USLS)-Bacolod whipped Holy Family Academy (HFA), 25-8, 25-9, 25-11.

PNHS shoots for its second straight victory when it takes on DCNHS this morning, right before HFA goes up against Baguio City National High School.

In the afternoon session, De La Salle Lipa battles Hope Christian School, while SLS-Bacolod tackles New Ormoc City National High School. — (FREEMAN)
