FULL POINT - Nimrod NL Quiñones -

Organizers of sporting events that would require the closure of certain streets have learned to respect motorists.

This is because we now see signs placed on key areas announcing the closure of certain roads due to races.

This Sunday morning, if you are planning to pass through the South Road Properties (SRP), better look for another route.

The portion of the South Coastal Road in Talisay City will be closed from early until mid morning for the 1st Talisay City Triathlon.

The SRP area will be closed from midnight until around mid-morning for the Globe Run 4 Home event.

In the past, motorists complain about the road closures that are done without proper information.

It would really get you fuming mad when you suddenly see a road closed while you are trying to catch a flight or an appointment on Sunday or Saturday mornings when traffic is supposed to be light.

While the Globe event has plastered a huge announcement at the entrance of the South Coastal Road, the organizers of the 1st Talisay Triathlon have made announcements that are not that big and are hard to read when you are passing by.

We do appreciate the efforts of the Talisay organizers, but hope that next time they put up a much larger announcement that would be easier to read.

We can always learn from our experiences.

Manny Pacquiao claims he was told by the Lord in a dream that he must hang his gloves.

The Pacman, who has become the idol not only of boxing fans, but millions of others worldwide, however, told our very own Manny Villaruel, sports editor of The FREEMAN, that he won’t retire just yet.

Somebody from my barangay, who filed a certificate of candidacy for president in the national elections several years ago, said that she did so because it was what God told her.

Hers and Pacman’s stories may seem similar, but totally different.

Honestly, I’d like to ask Pacman if he’s serious, but does seem to be.

Pacman is not only a champion boxer, but has also turned a first round knockout in his first foray into politics into a winning comeback albeit against another opponent and in another venue.

As a major influence to millions of people, it is also Pacman’s obligation to continue doing good deeds to encourage others to do the same.

Being a good example to others should be the best contribution that he can offer to glorify God.

I would like to remind those who plan to join the golf tournament on April 13 hosted by UP Cebu High School Batch ’84 at the Mactan Island Golf Club in Lapu-Lapu City, that tickets are still available at P2,000 each.

Yes, you can contact me for tickets even if I belong to a younger high school class (hehehe…sorry to my kuyas and ates from Batch ’84).

See you on this Friday the 13th event and let us hope our scores won’t be horrible.
