Don Bosco teams into Aboitiz Cup finals

CEBU, Philippines - Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) grabbed two final tickets in separate divisions in the 14th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

DBTC Team 4 dumped Bright Academy, 4-1, to advance into the players 10 championship against the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, which booted out Don Bosco's Team 5, 2-1.

DBTC-1 earned its second final berth through the boys 12 category after it crushed Bright Academy, 3-0.

DBTC-1, thus, set up a title showdown with Canduman Dedon, which upended Giuseppe FC, 1-0, in their knockout semifinal duel.

In the 19-under class, the University of San Carlos (USC) proceeded into the gold medal match after defeating SHS-AdC, 1-0. Jude Villacrusis delivered the winning goal for the Carolinians at the 23rd.

USC will face next the winner between Abellana National School-Pomeroy and DBTC next week.

In the ongoing elimination round of the boys 14 class, the Mandaue Technical Institute (MTI) pulled off a 2-0 victory over St.Agustin International School, while Blessed John Seminary XXIII bowed to DBTC-B.

Today, the 23-under finals will be contested by the University of Southern Philippines Foundation and the University of San Jose-Recoletos. The winner will determine Cebu’s representative to the Visayas leg of the PFF Suzuki Cup Under-23 National Championships set on March 18 in Dumaguete City. (FREEMAN)
