Man Santa Maria makes it 4-0 in CAV hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - Man Santa Maria stretched its sizzling run to four games in a row with a 63-57 drubbing of A and S Pace of Sitio Vilgon, 63-57, in the 3rd Christian Athletic Volunteers (CAV) Invitational Basketball Tournament the other night at the Brgy. Tejero Sports Complex.

After escaping past That’s Right by the narrowest of margins, 71-70, Man Santa Maria banked on its torrid outside shooting especially from top gunner Jack Echavaria who shot a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.

A and S actually led by four at halftime, 28-24, but Man Santa Maria exploded in the final half capped by a blistering 12-0 rally in the windup to wrap up the match.

Echavaria paced Man Santa Maria with 18 points, while Anton Lucena and Tanol de la Peña chipped in 19 markers combined.

Kim Beroin and Elizar Linda connived for 27 for A and S Pace.

In the other game, That’s Right won by forfeiture over Fast Cargo.
