Queen City United drowns Dolphins in UFL second division

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The Queen City United FC rebounded from its previous setback with a masterful 5-1 demolition of the Dolphins United, 5-1, in division 2 of the 2012 United Football League (UFL) yesterday at the Bonifacio Global City pitch.

Despite missing the services of three key players in Adlai Rivera, Junard Aguilar and Julius Acre, the Cebuano booters under the tutelage of Mario Ceniza were still able to deliver the goods as the replacements performed what was expected of them.

The Dolphins posted a convincing win over Agila FC, the conqueror of Queen City two weeks ago, but were left in complete shock on how the Cebuanos played against them except during the first 10 minutes of action.

"They were so disorganized at first outset that I even thought the Dolphins could score right away. But thanks to the able leadership of team captain John Michael Flores, eveything went well for us," said Ceniza.

Rommel Quizon knocked in QCU's first goal at the 15th, while John Villarico followed suit at the 30th.

Lady fortune continued to smile at the Cebuano side as the Dolphins scored against their own net to give QCU a 3-0 advantage at the intermission.

The Dolphins totally collapsed in the final half as instead of turning the tables on the Queen City United, they could only punch in one goal.

Prince Anthony Hamesin delivered QCU's fourth goal via penalty kick before Benedict Luis Arriola wrapped up the match.

"We really did not expect this kind of outcome. We saw them (Dolphins) play against Pachanga and even if they lose, we still consider them as a tough team. I think it's the breaks of the game that made us win against them and we're very happy about it," said Ceniza.

Queen City FC, which now holds an even 2-2 win-loss record spiked with one draw, will face next Sunken Garden United FC on February 26 at the same venue. (FREEMAN)
