OPASCOR, Man Santa Maria trounce rivals in CAV cage tourney
CEBU, Philippines - The Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR) and Man Santa Maria streaked past separate foes in the Christian Athletic Volunteers (CAV) Invitational Basketball Tournament the other night at the Brgy.Tejero gym.
OPASCOR edged out That’s Right, 84-80, while Man Santa Maria easily cruised past Fast Cargo, 72-67.
Nog-Nog Saga powered OPASCOR with 20 points followed by Jaysar Esperat and Jodie Arciaga with 17 and 10 markers, respectively.
That’s Right was actually leading by five at halftime, 38-33, but OPASCOR found it offensive bearing in the final half to scrape through a four-point win.
Jonathan Bughao had 16 points for That's Right, while Roldan Campaña added 14 in a losing effort.
Earlier, Jack Echavarria pumped in 19 points, while Tanol Dela Peña and Jan Clarete score 12 apiece for Man Santa Maria.
Man Santa Maria was in full command from the get go and posted its biggest lead of 12 points, 59-47, with 1:02 left in the third period.
Butchoy Razon led Fast Cargo with 12 points.
