CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano super bantamweight prospect Dodie Boy Peñalosa, Jr. will once again put his undefeated record on the line when he takes on South Korean Jong Won Jung in his first professional fight outside Cebu topbilling the ‘Dugong Kampeon-Bakbakan sa Caloocan ’ on January 28 at the Recome Dome in Caloocan City.
After pushing his way to a third round knockout victory over Donriel Marcos in October 2011, Peñalosa seeks to make an impression this time against Jong, his second foreign opponent.
In his first encounter against a foreign opposition, the son of former two-division world champion Dodie Boy, Sr. and nephew of Filipino ring legend turned promoter Gerry Peñalosa stopped Thai Kong Kiatpracha in round three in August of last year.
The young Peñalosa is unbeaten in seven fights - all via stoppage - but his uncle Gerry believed that his nephew will be tested this time against Jong who is known to be a very tough and sturdy opponent.
“Koreans are known for their tough chin. We will see how Dodie Jr. would fare against his second foreign opponent,” the GerryPens Promotions big boss told philboxing.com.
In the supporting bouts, Marvin Mabait takes on Rey Perez for the Philippine bantamweight title, while IBF Pan-Pacific flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro will go up against Jayson Rotoni in a non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
