Razon leads winners of X'mas Seniors golfest

CEBU, Philippines - Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon led the winners of the 2011 Christmas Senior Golfers Fellowship Tournament played last Wednesday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

Razon of AVGCC fired nines of 38 and 36 for a total of two-over-par 74 strokes, which earned him the lowest gross honors.

The champion for the Young Seniors’ class went to AVGCC’s Manuel ‘Jun’ Zosa with a net score of 61 off a gross 81. He led a sweep by members of the host club for this 55 to 62 years old group.

Second place went to Alejandro Ngo with a net score of 62 while Rolando Alberto was third with 63.

Renato Go of Mactan Island Golf Club topped the Mature Seniors’ (63 to 69 years old) group with a net score of 60 strokes off a gross 82.

Second place went to Celestino Rodriguez of Pamplona with a net score of 64 beating Ed Franco of Mactan in the countback. Franco settled for the second runner-up honors.

Antonio Sikimhua led another Alta Vista Sweep in the Super Seniors’ (70 years old and up) division. He fired a net 61 strokes and edged two others in the countback. 

Second place went to Rod Señido also with a net 61 after also pulling past David Villono in the countback. Villono settled for the second runner-up trophy.

The guest division (for players aged 54 years old and below) was ruled by Nelson Rosales of Alta Vista with a net score of 62.

Second place went to Alta Vista’s Henry Chu with a net 64 eadging Cebu Country Club’s Marlou Velasquez in the countback. Velasquez took the third place honors.

Special prizes went to Alvin Suarez for nearest to the pin on hole number 6 and Henry Chu for most accurate drive on the 11th. (FREEMAN)
