Anasta, Arcilla stay clean in Lagman tennisfest

CEBU, Philippines - Elbert Anasta served early warning to the rest of his rivals that he meant business in coming over here after he cruised to his fifth straight victory in the 4th Jacob Lagman Masters’ Cup tennis tournament yesterday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club tennis courts.

Anasta, who earlier downed Jacob Lagman, Patrick John Tierro, Ralph Kevin Barte and Ronard Joven, claimed his fifth win at the expense of Roel Kapangpangan, 6-2,6-3.

The multi-titled Johnny Arcilla is breathing down Anasta's neck with a clean 4-0 slate. He won against Joven, 6-1, 6-2 the other night before coming up with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Lagman.

Arcilla was scheduled to play against Patrick John Tierro as of this writing yesterday.

Although Arcilla and Tierro and doubles partners, they are “mortal enemies” in the singles event. (FREEMAN)
