CEBU, Philippines - Four Cebuano triathletes, who dared the challenge in Anda, Bohol all managed to finish what is regarded as the toughest race in the Southern Philippines – the Timex 226 Bohol Iron Distance Triathlon.
They are Reborn’s Jose Merdino Lim, Anthony Regis, Tyrone Tan, and Tenggoy Colmenares.
Lim had the best finish among the Cebuanos landing 29th overall and fourth in the men’s 30-34 class. The race covered a distance of 3.8 kilometers for the swim, 180 KM bike, and 42 KM run.
Regis was sixth in the same age category as Lim.
Tyrone Tan and Tenggoy Colmenares were fifth and sixth respectively under the men’s 40-44 class.
The multi-titled Arland Macasieb reigned supreme in the said event after finishing the race in 10 hours, 18 minutes, and 56 seconds.
Behind Macasieb was PMI’s August Benedicto with 10:27:29 as Timex TMM’s Franklin Peñalosa wound up third overall with his 10:36:36 clocking.
Peñalosa’s teammates, Laarni de Guzman and Janice Tanada got the 1-2 spots of the distaff side while Bike King’s Ting Joson came third.
In the age-groups, Raymund Velasco won the men’s 20-29, Omar Paredes in the 30-34 class, Christopher Eyao in the 35-39, Ferdinand Sogoc in the 40-44, Joevic Pajarillo in the 45-49 and Albino Alindogan in the 50-above division. – (FREEMAN)
