CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Evans Tumaliwan and Clifford Celdran bagged the class A title in last Saturday’s 2011 Christmas Fun Golf Tournament at the Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu course in Danao City.

Tumaliwan fired a gross score of 80 strokes and had a net 73 in the five-club event while Celdran shot a net 76 off a gross 82 for a total of 149 strokes.

The winning tandem bagged the first place trophy after edging the teenaged tandem of ShotaroSuda and Gen Nagai in the countback. Suda had a net 77 while Nagai made 72.

The Filipino-Japanese boys settled for the first runner-up honors.

The division B title went to Kim Jae Eun with a net score of 66 and his compatriot Jong Woo Won with a net score of 59 for a team total of 125.

Runner-up honors for division B went to the team of Renato ‘Jun-jun’ Osmeña with a net score of 62 and Chief Supt. Omar Garbo with a net 67. They combined for 129 strokes.

Efren Palugod fired a net 73 and his partner Bernie Manundan had a net 64 for a total of 137 that gave them the division C title.

They won it via the countback over Councilor Richie Osmeña with a net 61 and Jun Enriquez with a net 76, who settled for the runner-up honors.

The tournament allowed the players to only use a maximum of five clubs for the whole round.

Air Busan, which has been a regular supporter of tournaments at CFIC, once again put two roundtrip tickets to Korea on the line for an ace.

The tournament required a team to be composed of one club member and a guest.

The awards ceremony was held Saturday night at the CFIC penthouse located at the FGU Ayalife Building inside the Cebu Business Park. (FREEMAN)
