Alta Vista Christmas Fun Golf is open to guests

CEBU, Philippines - The tournament committee of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club announced yesterday that non-members of the club can play in the Christmas Fun Golf Classic on December 10 and 11.

Vicente Go, club director and tournament chairman, said that the non-members will play in the guest division. They must, however, get an endorsement from a member of the committee to get invited.

The Christmas Fun Golf Classic is an 18-hole, individual event using the stroke play format. 

There are still limited slots available and interested players can contact the club's registration counter at 2727977.

Entry fee for the event is pegged at P2,700. Each participant will get a specially-made Alta Vista belt, a shirt, cap, and several other giveaways.

Hole-in-one prizes include a Kia Picanto, P100,000, a motorcycle, a golf cart, and a residential lot. A Skygo motorcycle is also at stake for an eagle on all par-4 holes.

Go said that there would be no mulligan, but the additional P200 that was collected along with the entry fee would all go to various charitable institutions.

Hole-in-one sponsors are Gateway Motors (Kia) Cebu, Norkis Trading, Club Car, Santa Lucia Realty, Marist Royal Holidays Travel and Tours, Pagcor-Mactan, Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, and AVGCC.

Participants will be classified under classes A, B, and C for the regular men's division, ladies, seniors (55-69 years old), super seniors (70 years old and above), and the guest division.

The tournament awards ceremony is set at the club ballroom on the 11th.  

Specially-made plaques will be given to the top finishers of the different categories.

Alta Vista Golf and Country Club holds two major tournaments every year - its signature event, The View Invitational, in June, and the Christmas Fun Golf Classic every second weekend of December. — NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
