Over 4T to join Youth Run on Dec. 4
CEBU, Philippines - Close to 4,000 runners are expected to answer the starting gun when the “Youth Run…Make a stand” fires off on December 4 at Plaza Independencia.
The bulk of participants will come from the 26 parishes in Cebu City that are actively participating in the forthcoming 27th Local World Youth Day set on March 30 at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus.
“The main goal of this run is to raise funds for the local world youth day wherein Cebu will host the event for the first time,” said District Youth Coordinating Council (DYCC) president Ian Rey Pableo in a press conference yesterday at Harold’s Hotel.
No less than Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma himself will join the event that offers over P100,000 in cash prizes for the top 10 finishers in each category.
The champion in the men and women's open will pocket P10,000 each.
Registration fee is pegged at P300. Entry forms are available at the Cebu City Sports Commission and at the campus ministry offices in all colleges and universities and all parishes under DYCC 1. - THE FREEMAN
