A sea of blue
The decision of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) to hold the two championship battles on separate dates is a good idea.
One, the fans do not have to stay too long until late evening on a working day and second, so that the increase in volume of fans can be properly accommodated.
I know for a fact that the whole Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu community is now eagerly anticipating game five set today.
Emails and text messages have been sent urging the students, alumni, parents, and other members of the community to fill up the Cebu Coliseum and turn the bleachers into a sea of blue.
I am writing this column, hours before the start of the University of Cebu-Southwestern University decider. This year has been great for the inter-school league despite the black eyes it sustained during the playoffs for the last championship slot.

Basketball may be what’s in many Cebuano sports fans minds, but I cannot shake off the pain and the anguish I suffered watching the Philippines lose its second assignment in the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia to Timor Leste.
If the Philippines is not doing so well in the international football scene, Timor has been in a worse situation. But that was not the case last Monday.
Timor Leste, which gave the Philippines its first international win after a long time, a few years ago, has humbled the Philippine side, 2-1.
The Pinoys were simply outplayed by the Timorese, who played a more solid game and exemplified what teamwork is.
The Philippines looked bright in the dying moments of the game, but there was nothing that the Junior Azkals (Under-23 team) could do to turn things around or even forge a draw.
It broke my heart to see the game, but that does not mean I don’t believe anymore that we can be a better ‘footballing’ nation.
We can if we work together and stop tearing each other apart.

The former caddie of Tiger Woods seems to be losing it. Okay, he apologized about his most recent gaffe saying that it was supposed to be funny, but in the end the joke seems to be on him.
Steve Williams may have easily bounced back after he was fired by Tiger winning with Adam Scott in the Bridgestone Invitational.
Maybe people understood then when he took a swipe at Tiger calling it his best win despite having been on the bag with his ex-boss for 13 Major wins.
Now this comes this black as.ho.. comment that has resulted to a major backlash.
I know how caddies can be very mean to the people who help them make a living. With this attitude that Williams is showing, he is probably scaring those who might want him to carry their bags.
Maybe our local caddies can learn a lesson from this.
