Thinking pink
Pink was the color at the greens yesterday when the annual tournament meant to help raise funds to support the breast cancer awareness month.
The Pink Tee at the Cebu Country Club was graced by Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon, who hit the ceremonial drive.
When I was much younger, pink wasn’t a color that men would want to be seen wearing, but now, we have many men who wear the color to show their support to the cause.
Among the staunchest warriors pushing breast cancer awareness in this corner of the globe is a woman, who I admire a lot – Mary Anne ‘Manang Me-anne’ Alcordo-Solomon.
Manang Me-anne is a breast cancer survivor, who turned her experience into an inspiration and a motivation to help others.
The Pink Tee was just one of the many sports events that were lined up for the entire month of October. Now, with the month winding down to the last few days, let us look forward to next year and continue to offer our support to this noble cause.

Football, the world’s number one sport (yes, that is a fact), is getting bigger in our country, which still considers basketball as its top game.
On December 3, the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States will play against the Philippine Azkals in an exhibition game at the Rizal Memorial Field.
This will only be an exhibition game, but its impact will go beyond being a mere warm up for both sides.
This year has been very good for Philippine football.
Our national team has become an icon, we have participated in many international events with some success, we have a new local inter-club league, now we have this game against the Galaxy.
I know I have many things on my schedule for December 3, but I am trying to figure out how I can make the needed adjustments so I can watch this match at the Rizal Memorial.
The stadium is quite memorable for me as I had the chance to parade in that field a couple of times during national sporting events during my younger days as an athlete.

The game between Queen City United Football Club and Pachanga FC will be played this 2 p.m. at the University of Makati Field.
The plea of the Cebuano team, QCU, to hold the game here, did not materialize, but we will have a chance to watch the game live over AKTV-13 (Channel 9 on SkyCable TV).
QCU is out of the running, but a win this afternoon will shoot down Pachanga’s hopes of advancing to the next round.
