CEBU, Philippines - Finishing third was already a fulfilling feat for Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy in the 4th Pintaflores Under-16 National Invitational Tournament yesterday at San Julio field in San Carlos City.
ANS of coach Francis Ramirez had a chance to snare the second place honors but their hopes vanished in thin air after they just settled for a 1-all draw with Bukidnon.
Bukidnon broke the ice of the match at the 56th, but Michael Anthony Ruete scored the equalizer for ANS on a penalty kick at the 85th.
ANS finished the tournament with a 2-2-1 win-loss-draw record.
San Carlos City retained its title with four wins and a draw, while Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA)-Dumaguete, which ended its campaign with a 4-0 shutout of Barotac Nuevo-Iloilo, occupied the second place with a 3-1-1 slate. (FREEMAN)
