CEBU, Philippines - Everything is already in place for the biggest motocross event in the Cebu this year – the 2nd Mayor Apura Invitational International Motocross Cup set on November 13 at the specially-designed racetrack in Brgy. Liburon, Carcar City.
The one-day tilt is considered as the most competitive and exciting race this year as six European riders will compete against local top guns.
Also to watch out for are some of the country's elite daredevils led by many-time national champion Glenn Aguilar and SEL-J Sports Racing Team composed of riders from Nueva Ecija, Tuguegarao and Palawan. Team Pacquiao also expressed its desire to join the contest.
Not to be outdone, Cebu's homegrown talents will also come in full force bannered by teen sensation Jon-jon Adlawan, brothers Jubenile and Jovannie Abellar and Aldwin Canlas.
“This is exciting because this is the first not only in Carcar but in Cebu that there will be an international invitational motocross race,” said Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura in a press conference yesterday at Baseline Restaurant.
Aside from the highly-anticipated expert class, the other categories featured include the intermediate, novice, beginners, 125 enduro, veterans A, B and C, underbone (habal-habal) class, peewee and mini.
Pepo Rubi, one of the organizers, said they are targeting 100 to 120 riders to join the race, which is among the highlights of Carcar's annual fiesta in honor of their beloved patroness St. Catherine de Alexandria. (FREEMAN)
