North elims of GUV Cup Horse Show and Competition today in Liloan

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - The northern Cebu elimination of the 5th Governor’s Cup Horse Show and Competition will be held today at Sitio Cabancalan in Brgy. Jubay, Liloan.

Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and other Capitol officials will attend this big sporting event for horse enthusiasts in northern Cebu.

Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco and his wife Christina Garcia Codilla-Frasco will also grace the affair.

Rodolfo Lechago, president of Cebu Equine Owners Breeders and Sportsman Association (CEOBSA), said the elimination is in preparation of the bigger horse extravaganza in March next year.

Lechago said they are expecting at least 30 cowboys from different municipalities and cities in northern part of Cebu to take part in the one-day tilt.

To spice up the show, Lechago said they include the open category wherein professional cowboys from different places will join.

Lechago, on the other hand, expressed his profound gratitude to Mayor Frasco for giving full support to the needs of the association and for hosting the event.

A project of Governor Gwen Garcia, Lechago said its primary purpose is to promote sports tourism at the same time assist local residents who are lovers of horses.

The elimination round for southern Cebu is scheduled in December with the city of Naga as host.
