"Wet Weekend" event set at Cebu Yacht Club

CEBU, Philippines - To celebrate the Cebuanos love for action sports and adventure, Rhistop in collaboration with Quiksilver and Roxy Philippines will be staging a two-day Wakeboard Camp and Exhibition dubbed as “Wet Weekend” on October 21-22 at the Cebu Yacht Club in Lapu-Lapu City.

Wakeboard enthusiasts from Manila, Davao, Bacolod, Dumaguete and Leyte also confirmed their participation for this one-of-a-kind event.

The Wakeboard Camp will start at 9:00 am on Friday and Saturday until the sun goes down. Beginners and experienced wake boarders are invited to join, but organizers are limiting the number of participants to 80 for safety and security reasons.

Aside from wakeboarding, a jetski exhibition featuring enthusiasts from all over Cebu is also set.

A mini boat show presented by the Cebu Yacht Club, which will showcase some locally-made speed boats to promote the marine industry in the region, will also be held.

After the Wakeboard Camp and Exhibition, a Sunset Cruise Party on boats towards SRP will happen from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Pre-dinner cocktails will be served on board to set the mod before the party starts.

According to Edgar Rabino, Area Manager of Primer Group of Companies, the Wakeboard Camp is the launching event of Roxy and Quiksilver, where they chose to establish the stores here in Cebu first before Manila and other provinces in the country.

“If this event will be successful, then we will probably do this annually or might be a couple of times a year, a sustaining event for Roxy and Quiksilver,” said Rabino.

Registration for the wakeboard camp is ongoing until October 20 at R.O.X., Ayala Center Cebu Active Zone and Quiksilver, 2/F SM Northwing. Registration fee is pegged at P1,500 that also entitles the registrant to a limited edition Rhipstop X Quiksilver/Roxy tank top, food and drinks, ticket to the sunset cruise and wet weekend party.

On October 21, admission is free for everyone. Tickets on October 22, is at P500 inclusive of drinks and a pass to the sunset cruise if one comes early.
