Pink October
This weekend it will be October. For the past many years, October has been dedicated as the month to promote cancer awareness.
Many of us have family members who have cancer and aside from being a moral and financial support, one way of supporting them is also to help push awareness about the Big C.
A series of sporting events have been lined up for the Pink October celebration. Manang Mary Ann ‘Me-anne’ Alcordo-Solomon, one of the leading advocates of cancer awareness here, sent me email about the various activities.

We can all do our share to help spread awareness about cancer.
Manang Me-Anne, who is a breast cancer survivor, has been encouraging other women to have annual examinations and early detection will help you survive.

Somebody observed how dirty the roads are during and after running events because of the trash that the participants leave on the road.
The trash is composed mostly plastic cups that are used in the water stations and are just indiscriminately thrown by the runners on the road after they drink the contents.
We understand that many runners are gunning to set new personal records, but those who are just joining for fun would probably not mind having to stop for a second or two to drop the plastic cup in trash bins that organizers will have to provide near the water stations.
If this can’t be done, organizers should assign a crew to clean up the mess and not wait for the trash to be blown away to other areas before disposing of them properly.
