Navaja opens defense of track crowns

CEBU, Philippines - Multi-awarded Lindley Fran Navaja of the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters will start to defend his titles as the athletics event of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) kicks off today at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

The Palarong Pambansa’s fastest man is expected to dominate the sprint events.

Aside from Navaja, the other athletes to watch are Dharl Pitogo for the hurdles event, Ernesto Ybanez in the jumping events and Lorna Olarita from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) for the sprinting and hurdles in the women’s division.

Aside from UC and USPF, also competing in the college division are Southwestern University (SWU), University of San Carlos (USC), University of the Visayas (UV) and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

Competing in the secondary division are UC, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and Cebu Eastern College.

Meanwhile, the games will continue tomorrow and on Sunday but this time will be held at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu track oval.  (FREEMAN)
