Three running events set this weekend

CEBU, Philippines - Three running events will take place this weekend starting with the 2011 Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr. Memoral Run today at the newly-renovated Plaza Independencia this morning.

This year’s DSOS action features two race lengths, the 7.5 and 15-kilometer run.

Thousands of runners are attracted to see action in the event as organizers decided to give out cash prizes up to the 15th finisher of both the men and women’s open divisions.

More to it, older runners also get a chance to be at the podium with the addition of the masters division in the 16th edition. The masters division has four age classification---45-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-79.

After today’s battle, Cebuano runners will go for an ultra-marathon via the Warrior 50 at Be Hotel tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s race is set at 50 kilometers, the second time to have this length here in Cebu.

Hardcore running enthusiasts from all over the country are set to see action in this event that will be held in Mactan Island for the first time.

After a long and tiring run comes the ERUF 161 Run on Sunday at the Mandaue City reclamation area.

The third event will have 3K, 6K and 12K category, a run that can serve as a recovery run for those who did the ultra-marathon. - THE FREEMAN
