SHS-AdC scores third straight win
CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles chalked up their third straight victory and took the solo lead in the secondary division Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Magis Eagles had an effortless, 94-51 annihilation of the smaller Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Junior Greywolves in the opener of a twinbill that featured the battle between University of the Visayas and University of San Carlos in the collegiate level.
The collegiate game was still ongoing as of presstime.
Games tomorrow: (Cebu Coliseum)
1pm UV vs. USC (Sec.)
2:30 pm UC vs. DBTC (Sec.)
4 pm USJR vs. CIT-U (Coll.)
5:30 pm UV vs. SWU (Coll.)
Early in the third period, it was already obvious that the Magis Eagles would wrap-up the game.
SHS-AdC scored at will while DBTC simply had no answer in terms of offense and its defense also sagged.
The Magis Eagles were the losing finalists last year against the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons.
SHS-AdC is now solo leader with a 3-0 win-loss record while Don Bosco joined the USC Baby Warriors in the cellar with identical 0-2 win-loss records.
Big man Julius Cadavis, a remnant from last year's roster, paced the Magis Eagles with 16 points and following him closely was Dawn Henric Ochea with 15 points while Jari Igna and Maverick Suarez had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Jose Marlo Pono topscored for the Junior Greywolves also with 16 markers but he didn't get enough support from his teammates.
The scores:
SHS-AdC 94 - Cadavis 16, Ochea 15, Igna 14, Suarez 12, Yu 9, Lim 8, Sing 5, Cercado 4, Competente 4, Go 3, Tecson 2, Catan 2
