Garcia sizzles in CCC Monthly Medal

CEBU, Philippines - Bayani Garcia fired a gross score of one-under-par 71 strokes to take home the top honors in the July Monthly Medal of Cebu Country Club.

Garcia scorched the front nine with a three-under-par 33 before dropping two strokes on the homestretch for a 38.

The class A title went to Clifforc Celdran, who carded a net score of 69 strokes off a gross 75. Runner-up honors went to Wendell Yap with a net score of 71.

The class B title went to Mamoru Ito with a tournament-best net score of 64 off a gross score of 82. Runner-up honors went to Jonji Chiongbian with a net score of 69 strokes.

Willy Suarez ruled class C with a net score of 70 while runner-up honors went to Gilfer Alvarez with a net 71 after he edged Alvin Tan in the countback.

Ruben Almendras topped class D with a net score of 70 strokes while Angelo ‘Boy’ Barcelo took the runner-up honors with his net 72 after beating Ramon Escario in the countback.

Abelardo ‘Billy’ Tan won the seniors’ plum with a net score of 68. Runner-up honors for this category exclusive to those 60 years old and above, went to Bobit Avila with 71.

Akira Hatano won the guest division title with a net score of 74 edging Hospicio ‘Razy’ Razon in the countback. Razon settled for the runner-up honors. – NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
