Arkiteks trounce Sykes in Inter-BPO football

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano architects showed they're not only good in basketball but they also have a knack in what seems to be the newest toast of Philippine sports - football.

The newly-formed Arkiteks United Futbol Club (AUFC) chalked up its first victory in a major tournament in style, carving out a masterful 8-1 demolition of Sykes in the 2011 Inter-BPO Football Cup at the San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Team captain Josephril R. Partosa and Vincent Ace Duenas both delivered hat-tricks, most of them coming from beautiful set-up plays by their veteran comrade Peter Bordador, a former member of the M.Lhuillier-Cebu Football Team that won the National Inter-Club Championship in 1988. The feat of Bordador and his teammates earned them a spot in the hallowed portals of Cebu Sports Hall of Fame last February.

Bordador, himself, chipped in two goals at the 73rd and 88th for UAFC, whose members are also seeing action in the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) being played every Sunday afternoon at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.

Partosa knocked in goals at the 5th 58th and 66th, while Duenas punched in his contibution at the 22nd, 38th and 52nd.

The UAFC, thus, stayed unbeaten in two games with one draw. — THE FREEMAN
