CEBU, Philippines - Joel Delposo stunned Kenyan Abraham Missos to rule the men's 6K division of the Alay Takbo yesterday at Plaza Sugbo in South Road Properties.
Delposo won the title with just a fraction of a second after a neck-to-neck battle with the Kenyan in the final stretch.
Delposo finished the race in 9 minutes and 55 seconds, while Missos came in at 19.56. Joebert Carolino wound up third in 20:53.
Another Kenyan Willy Tanui, however, was lucky enough as he defeated Ian Bernido in the men’s 15K.
Tanui posted the time of 50:14, while Bernido clocked in 51:05. Adonis Singson placed third in 51:41.
In the distaff side, Mary Joy Tabal clinched the 15K crown with the time of 1:01.11. Christy Sevilleno-Tutor ended up second in 1:06.20 followed by Joeyry Lee in 1:07.17.
The women’s 6K had Jojilyn Mae Pepito (24:58) on top followed by Lovely Adrin (25:40) and Lynle Cardenas (27 mins).
The top three in the women's 3K were Jessa Bayon-on, Venus Reyes, and Fatima Unabia, while the men's side had Erwin Carallas, Joseph Neil Tirano and Lemuel Caballes. - THE FREEMAN
