Fernandez brothers gear up for Thailand judo event

CEBU, Philippines - Brothers Joaquin and Nonoy Fernandez, two of the most promising Cebuano judokas, are set to play different roles in the Thailand International Judo North Bangkok University Championships 2011on July 30.

Joaquin will be fighting anew for the country along with other selected judokas from the University of the Philippines.

Joaquin’s kuya Nonoy, on the other hand, will be out of action as he will serve as coach for the women’s team this time.

Aside from the Fernandez siblings, also included in the team from UP are John Gil Landingin, Kevin Angelo Gonzales, Josef Gavriel Topacio, Christian Bernard Bautista, Ada Therese Estanislao, Donna Padilla and Andrea Isabelle Callanta.

Each of the top performer in Thailand will be awarded with medals and diploma, while the overall champion will be determined via points system. (FREEMAN)
